Hello!  My name is Josh Van Horn, and I am the 7-12 grade visual arts and film teacher.  Thank you all for making me feel so welcome for my first year at Concord Academy Petoskey!  I’m excited to be here!

I received my bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts Education from The Ohio State University.  While at Ohio State I studied all of the visual arts with a focus on the digital arts – mainly photography and videography.  My student teaching consisted of using big ideas to create a visual arts curriculum for students of all ages.

After graduating, my wife, Megan, and I – along with our dog, Ben – moved up to the area from Ohio.  I spent my first year working at a local middle school as a paraprofessional, as well as a program activity leader for that school’s after school program.  I spent my last year as a professional photographer and videographer for a local publishing company that creates publications throughout Michigan.  My wife and I love northern Michigan and are excited to be able to spend our lives here!
